I recently sold my Canon 5D mkii to buy a 6D. It wasn't easy as I really loved my 5D. There is a lot of discussions here and there regarding the differences between those two models. the 6D has a few major drawbacks but after a good look I realised none of them would really affect me. In fact, the few advantages the 6D has over the 5Dmkii were important to me. I didn't need the better AF system of the 5D (I only shoot with the center AF point), I don't shoot sport and I don't really care about the difference of material when it's in my hand.
I do care about GPS, much better low light performances and low weight. Therefore I changed for the 6D and after a weekend in New York were I could test it, I must say I'm really glad I changed! The low lights performances are really exceptional. I had a smile on my face when I was on the top of the Rockefeller building at dawn, seeing so many photographers taking so much time to set their tripod and trying to find the good settings while I had already shot 100 times....
I still use my tripod from time to time, but to be honest, I prefer to travel light and spend my time to find a better angle or composition rather to set my tripod during long minutes..
Anyway, here is my first picture:
There are many other shots coming from this trip.
Next week I'll leave for a 5 weeks trip to Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar. Really looking forward to it!!!
Take care
